Meatloaf is an American favorite!
Savory, filling and great for large families, meatloaf is a crowd pleaser and a staple in many households. But, who says all meatloaf needs to be made the same? The beauty of meatloaf is that there are a million ways to make it, with a million different ingredients. So in this recipe, I'm going to outline how to make Swiss Onion Meatloaf!
Swiss Onion Meatloaf;
Ingredients:
2lb of lean ground beef
Green onions
1 Sweet Onion
Shredded Swiss Cheese
Cream Cheese
Saltine Crackers
Mayonnaise
Spice Crave Roasted Garlic Sea Salt
Ground Pepper
Let's get cooking!
1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
2. Chop Sweet Onion, then caramelize in a pan with a dash of olive oil.
Also chop green onions, use half when caramelizing, save half for later.
3. Prepare meatloaf
In a mixing bowl, combine/mix ground beef, crushed crackers, 2 tbs Mayonnaise, Roasted Garlic Seas Salt and a pinch of ground pepper.
Form the mixture into a "loaf".
Place loaf in a baking pan, top with paprika and a pinch of ground pepper.
Baste loaf lightly with olive oil.
Bake loaf for 20-26 minutes.
4. Prepare topping
In a small pot, add a dash of olive oil, 1 cup of water, 3 tbs of Cream Cheese and caramelized onions.
Bring to a boil. Condense until creamy.
Once the topping is condensed, take it off of the burner and add 1 cup of shredded swiss cheese.
5. Plate the dish
Remove the meatloaf from the oven, set aside to cool.
Once cooled, slice the meatloaf up into potions, top with swiss onion topping and SERVE with your favorite sides.
